France’s footballers have secured their next victory at the Olympic tournament thanks to new Munich player Michael Olise and Freiburg’s Kiliann Sildillia.
Former world champion Thierry Henry’s team beat Guinea 1-0 (0-0) in Nice. Olise, who is moving from Crystal Palace to the German record champions from Munich for a reported 60 million euros, set up Sildillia’s winning goal (75th minute).
The 22-year-old winger Olise had already shone in France’s 3-0 win against the USA in their Olympic opening match, scoring one goal and providing another assist. Host France are top of the group with six points ahead of their final group match against New Zealand on Tuesday and are on the verge of moving into the next round.
