FC Schalke rejected Elversberg offer

Lino Tempelmann has not played a single second for FC Schalke 04 this season. After being dropped by head coach Karel Geraerts for sporting reasons, he was also recently sidelined with a persistent knee injury. Now he is about to return to the training ground.

As the “Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung” reported on Monday, Tempelmann is ready to play again after about three months out and is about to return to the training squad of the struggling second division club, which has so far only won one of five games this season.

Even though he will continue to play no role in Gelsenkirchen’s game operations, he is expected to bring himself back to competitive level in team training under coach Geraerts.

According to “WAZ” information, there was even an opportunity for the Royal Blues to get the 25-year-old off the payroll during the last transfer period. Schalke is said to have received a loan offer from SV Elversberg for Tempelmann.

Tempelmann has played 23 competitive matches for FC Schalke 04

The player himself would have gladly accepted the offer from his direct rivals in order to finally be able to gain match practice again. However, FC Schalke is said to have rejected the request, meaning Tempelmann will remain at Schalke until at least January.

It remains to be seen whether the Munich native will get another chance to prove himself under S04 coach Geraerts. In the second half of the last season, Tempelmann found himself in the stands at times, as he was no longer able to make the matchday squad for sporting reasons.

In total, the central midfielder has played in 23 competitive matches for FC Schalke 04 and scored one goal.
