FC Copenhagen has extended the agreement with head coach Jacob Neestrup, so that the collaboration will now run until the summer of 2029. FCK announced this on Saturday on the football club’s website.
It is a three-year extension of the current agreement, which was set to expire in the summer of 2026.
“I am of course happy about this extension”, says Jacob Neestrup to the club’s website.
“There is no doubt that we have had a difficult period in 2024, but I am still full of high energy and great motivation to lead players and staff so that together we can realize our common ambitions at FC Copenhagen”.
Neestrup took over the job as FCK coach in September 2022, when Jess Thorup was fired. In that situation, Neestrup was promoted from assistant to head coach.
In his first season at the helm of FCK, Neestrup won the Danish championship, but in the last season he missed out on the gold, which instead went to FC Midtjylland.
“This extension also testifies to a particularly high degree of mutual trust between the club, management and myself as head coach.
“You can’t always take that for granted in this world, and I would like to emphasize that I personally appreciate that enormously,” says Neestrup.
Neestrup’s next task with FCK will be the away game against the arch-rivals from Brøndby in the Superliga. The derby will be played on Sunday at 12 noon.
