Federer has left, Nadal is also saying goodbye. Djokovic commented on the end of his career: I feel sorry for those who want it – Tennis

After the recent announcement of the end of Rafael Nadal’s career, the media often turn to the Serbian champion Novak Djokovic with the question of retirement.

Novak Djokovic’s last major opponent is current world number one Jannik Sinner, who has beaten the Serb in the last four matches.

However, the winner of a record 24 Grand Slam titles bats away these questions with as much ease as he demonstrates with his forehand on the courts. Deep down, Djokovic believes that he can also win the 25th trophy from the big four tournaments.

In an interview with the Argentine newspaper La Nation, he said that he felt sorry for those who wanted him to retire from the sport and that they would have to watch him for a while longer.

“They tell me: you won the Olympic gold, you won everything, say goodbye. Others say I should go on as long as I think I can be the favorite to win a Grand Slam. I am closer to the others,” stated the Serbian tennis player.

Djokovic admitted that traveling around the world and finding motivation is becoming more and more difficult for him. “But I still have something that drives me. I feel sorry for those who want me to quit, because they will have to watch me for a while longer,” said the 37-year-old Serb.

While last year he enjoyed three Grand Slam titles (Australian Open, French Open, US Open), he did not add another one this year. He played in only one final.

“Deep down, I feel that I can win more Grand Slam titles. What still motivates me to compete, especially at Grand Slams, is the feeling that I am a candidate to win these trophies. I also like to play in the Davis Cup for Serbia, with whom I won this competition in 2010,” added Djokovic.
