DAPURPACUID – When behind the wheel, full concentration is needed and nothing should distract the driver, either from inside or outside the cabin.
It doesn’t matter who is behind the wheel, whether a man or a woman. In fact, it is not uncommon or a few women who are behind the wheel.
“It doesn’t matter who is behind the wheel. The most important thing is their mental readiness,” said Rifat Sungkar, at the Mitsubishi booth at the 2024 GIIAS event some time ago.
The man who is currently the ambassador for Mitsubishi Motors in Indonesia emphasized that road users cannot be differentiated by gender.
But what is clear, he continued, between women and men there are undeniable mental differences. Especially mental and sensitivity to certain conditions on the road.
Rifat said, men are often given the obligation to drive, so when driving they feel like leaders. While a woman drives not as a leader, but because of necessity.
“A woman tends to be less sensitive to road conditions, especially in car speed. Of course, this condition affects her driving style,” Rifat said.
However, these differences can be offset by a higher level of attention to the surrounding environment, making them tend to be more careful (speed sensitivity).
Naturally, women’s sensitivity to speed is different. Therefore, female drivers are safer, because they are more aware of their surroundings. Their reaction time is long, almost 5 seconds.
Likewise regarding car maintenance, it is usually neater than men. Although it is undeniable, female drivers do not fully pay attention to the condition of the cabin, which often becomes a ‘second home’ for them.
Rifat explained that several Mitsubishi model lines are already friendly to female drivers, especially the driving support features ranging from light steering, responsive brakes and many storage compartments.
“In terms of features between the Xpander and XForce, there is actually no significant difference, even tending to be the same. It’s just that the XForce has better driving mode and audio features,” said Rifat.
“This gives the impression that the XForce is still comfortable even when driven alone. While its safety features are still capable and make it safe,” he added.
One of the superior features of the XForce is the embedded driving mode that can be adjusted to your needs, including Wet Mode which reduces the risk of aquaplaning.
Rifat explained, the 4×4 technology on the Pajero Sport can be said to have been applied to the XForce through Wet Mode. The car will counter itself if the conditions are unsafe.
And operating the Driving Mode does not require the driver to stop the car and can be changed at any time if needed. (dpid/TH)
