Ferrari F80: style and video of the new supercar from Maranello

The new one Ferrari F80 comes as the seal of a long wait on the part of customers and enthusiasts of the “prancing horse”, who had patiently followed the various phases of the model’s gestation. Several times, we too had worked on the prototypes and forklifts that led to the final model, now revealed in its definitive guise.

In the previous article, which I invite you to read, an extensive account of the technical qualities and characteristics of this creature was given. Today we focus our attention on aesthetic aspectsmaking use of some videos, which complete the photo package released by the Maranello company. We combine the official film with one collected online, which projects us into a more real and less cinematic dimension, to better grasp the effect that the new sports car Emiliana does it live.

Scrolling through the images, you notice the strong stage presence of the Ferrari F80, which does not hide its muscles. Here the energy emerges in every square centimeter of the bodywork. Flavio Manzoni and his men have given it a vigorous style, which best accommodates the aerodynamic needs of a “beast” of this kind, but without weighing down the picture with invasive solutions on an aesthetic level: everything takes place, in fact, with a good dose of naturalness.

Some elements wink at the style of the legendary F40such as the treatment of the front fenders and high tail vents, but the connection requires a certain exercise of imagination to grasp. In general, the new Ferrari F80 is projected towards new expressive codes, while remaining easily identifiable as a sports car from the Maranello company.

Tense traits are combined with supple ones, for an aggressive but also soft blend. The look is bold, as a car of this kind demands. The front highlights the generoso S-Ductwhich characterizes the central part of the bonnet. Behind, however, the large mobile wing, the result of active aerodynamics, dominates the scene. The downforce is a reference point: the vertical load on the Ferrari F80 reaches 1,200 kg at 250 km/h. Race car stuff, with a much more graceful design.

The stylistic project was not easy, having to combine very contrasting aspects, but the result is very satisfying. One comes from it supercar which immediately enters the graces of the eyes and the heart. The most successful part is, in my opinion, the rear one, while some doubts arise from the wide black band that connects the front light clusters, inspired by the 365 GTB/4 Daytona and taken from the more recent 12Cilindri. Over time you will get used to it.

As reported in other circumstances, the new “red” continues the trend of limited series supercars of the “prancing horse”, opened by the GTO in 1984 and continued with the F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari. With her, the engineering and performance framework pushes towards new levels, even if the fractionation is reduced compared to previous works.

On the Ferrari F80, the propulsive force comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo hybrid V6 engine, combined with electric units, for a system power of 1,200 HPon a weight of 1,525 kg. The result is acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.75 seconds. The maximum speed is over 350 km/h. We don’t yet know the time set on the Fiorano track, but we know that it is the fastest ever achieved by a production “red”. Here are the videos.
