Ferrari is ready to say goodbye to these models

Connecting to the Ferrari official website and going to look at the list of cars on sale you might perhaps be confused: 9 models, to which you can add the 4 Special Series based on SF90 and 812. The total is 13, exactly like a generalist brand like Fiat. With decidedly different price lists.

But now the prancing Horse the time has come to say goodbye. As communicated in the document published on the occasion of the press conference on the results of the second quarter of 2024 – +2.7% registrations compared to the previous year – in Maranello they are preparing for say goodbye to four models: Rome and 812 Competition they are nearing the end of their life cycle, SF90 Stradale and 812 GTS instead, they have already reached the end of production.

Well-deserved retirement

These are farewells to iconic models. The Ferrari 812 represented the continuity of the Ferrari V12 engine while the SF90 had the task of transporting the company into the world of series plug-in hybrids, after the first approach signed by the LaFerrari, an extremely exclusive limited edition hypercar. The Roma instead celebrated the bond between the Cavallino and the Dolce Vita, an elegant and sporty GT V8. The end of production in this case should concern only the coupé, while the spider should continue for at least two years.

<h2><span class=What comes next

Having said goodbye to one Ferrari, we must prepare to welcome another. So what will the next models be? We already know the heir to the 812: it is called the Ferrari 12Cilindri and its name already declares what moves it. For this model, the V12 has been further retouched and now reaches 830 HP. All strictly without supercharging.

As for the SF90 Stradale, the mules of its successor have been on the road for a year already. Of course, neither its name nor its technical specifications are known, although it is easy to imagine the presence of a plug-in powertrain with power exceeding 1,000 HP. Oh, we forgot: if the “normal” SF90 has reached the time of saying goodbye, its most extreme version – the SF90 XX – is destined to be produced for a while longer.

Finally, we know nothing about the heir of Rome. There is no trace of spy photos or rumors.

In 2025, Ferrari’s innovations will be epochal: on the one hand, new hypercarspiritual heir of the F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari, on the other the debut of the first electric Ferrari. New “plug-in” models that will continue to be flanked by purely thermal models.
