Ferrari president: Hamilton is not coming to enjoy his retirement but to win the championship

The president of Ferrari, John Elkann, in a recent interview spoke about the arrival of Lewis Hamilton in Maranello from the beginning of next year, adding that the Italian team wants to win the championship again with the Briton.

Some things happen very quickly. This was the moment he and Ferrari found each other. He wants to win the eighth title, Ferrari wants to win and with Lewis it is stronger. He is not coming to Ferrari to enjoy his retirement and it is important that he has motivation and people around him who want to win.

Hamilton will race for Ferrari at 40 as the second oldest driver on the grid behind Fernando Alonso. When Elkann was asked what a driver of Hamilton’s age would bring to Ferrari he added:

In Formula 1 there is now real competition, with four teams very close: Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes. It is important to always reach your maximum potential: those with more experience have more stability, as shown by Hamilton and even Alonso himself. And stability counts.

And they are not the only ones. We see what athletes like Roger Federer, Simone Biles, Cirstiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Gregorio Paltrinieri are up to. With dedication and sacrifice, they overcome the physical limits due to age. It is also true that we are in a historical phase in which we are living longer and the careers of sportsmen and women are also being extended.
