Dávid Hancko is a sought after commodity after EURO 2024.
Local and international media have been reporting for a long time that several leading clubs in Europe are interested in his services.
More light was shed on the transfer saga on Saturday by the player himself, who confirmed his ambition to leave the squad of the Eredivisie champion from the 2022/2023 season.
“I know that I am ready for a new challenge. During the last two seasons, I performed well, so I would like to try it in one of the best leagues,” said the 26-year-old native of Prievidza in an interview with Dutch television RTV Rijnmond.
“I know that for some players working at Feyenoord is the final destination and for many it is not. In order for a player to be able to make a transfer move, an agreement between the clubs is required. They are the ones who have to take the next step. I owe a lot to Feyenoord. I found quality teammates here, without whom my development would not have been possible,” added the 42-time Slovak representative.
During the past few weeks, the Spanish big club Atlético Madrid was intensely interested in the services of a defensive all-rounder capable of playing as a stopper and a left back.
However, the team led by Argentine coach Diego Simeone acquired the Spanish national team stopper Robin Le Normand on Saturday, which significantly reduces the chance of acquiring Hanck. However, English clubs FC Liverpool and Manchester United also showed interest.
“Even if I don’t go anywhere, I will remain committed. I love this club. The matches at our stadium, especially in the Champions League, were a fantastic experience. The club as such is in excellent condition, it has made significant progress over the past five years. The support of the fans is also great,” concluded the former player of Žilina, Italian Fiorentina and Sparta Prague.
