These film highlights will be shown on free TV on Christmas Day

©rbb/Hardy Spitz – The RBB film “The Fairy Tale of the Silver Bridge” has its TV premiere this afternoon at 2:45 p.m
  • 11.50 a.m.: “The Lion King” on Sat.1 – Important to know: Sat.1 is showing the computer-animated “live-action” remake from 2019 today and not the Disney animated original from 1994.
  • 1:25 p.m.: „Casper“ on RTLZwei (runs here again at 9:35 a.m. on December 26th) – The 1995 fantasy comedy with the then 15-year-old Christina Ricci (“Addams Family”) shone at the time with formidable 3D animation technology and still delights with its fairytale charm.
  • 2:05 p.m.: “Chaos on the Internet” on Sat.1 – The Disney animated film “Chaos on the Net” from 2018 is the sequel to the video game homage “Ralph is Enough” from 2012 and revolves around this so-called “Internet”.
  • 2:45 p.m.: “The Tale of the Silver Bridge” in the first – The brand new RBB fairy tale film is being shown on free TV for the first time today and is based on Hertha Vogel’s book “The Silver Bridge” from 1949. Here the devil, the witch, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Rumpelstiltskin join forces.
  • 5:40 p.m.: „Top Gun: Maverick“ on ProSieben – In 2022, Tom Cruise sat back in the cockpit of a fighter jet, where he and his fellow actors physically exposed themselves to the violent g-forces in real combat flight maneuvers. The “Top Gun” original from 1986 is also shown today on ProSieben directly in advance at 3:25 p.m.
  • 8:15 p.m.: “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” on Kabel Eins – “The Last Crusade” from 1989 offers 100% everything a thrilling Indy adventure needs. Just seeing Harrison Ford and Sean Connery together in front of the camera is always a pleasure.
  • 8:15 p.m.: “Die Hard – A Good Day to Die” on RTLZwei – The very first “Die Hard” film from 1988 is actually a must-see Christmas TV program for action fans. However, only the fifth part of the series from 2013 will be shown on free TV this year.

  • 8:15 p.m.: „Dune: Part One“ on ProSieben – Premiere: Denis Villeneuve’s masterful “Dune” film adaptation from 2021 can be seen on free TV for the first time, more precisely the first part of the Warner trilogy, which is scheduled to conclude with “Dune: Messiah” in December 2026.
  • 8:15 p.m.: “The Queen and the Personal Physician” on Arte – If you’re interested in a costume drama with Mads Mikkelsen in the lead role, Arte is the right place for you tonight. The historical film is set in the late 18th century and was submitted by Denmark for the Oscars in 2012.
  • 8:15 p.m.: “Twelve o’clock noon” in HR – Western lovers are in the right place in the HR program this evening. After the Gary Cooper classic “Twelf Noon” (1952), the Howard Hawks western “El Dorado” with John Wayne and Robert Mitchum will be shown here at 9:40 p.m.
  • 8:15 p.m.: “Kevin – Alone in New York” on Sat.1 – The 1992 sequel to the box office hit “Home Alone” is the epitome of film recycling, but the basic structure of the original is pretty much indestructible.
  • 10:40 p.m.: „Pulp Fiction“ on Vox – “Pulp Fiction” doesn’t exactly have much to do with Christmas (in fact, nothing at all), but that doesn’t matter at all: Quentin Tarantino’s cult film from 1994 is timelessly brilliant for every occasion.
  • 10:40 p.m.: “The spirits I called…” on Sat.1 – The Bill Murray Christmas classic transported Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Story” to 1988 and made Ebenezer Scrooge a spoiled-for-success and over-the-top obnoxious TV mogul.
  • 11:10 p.m.: „Kings of Hollywood“ on SWR/SR – The third free TV premiere today is this 2020 US comedy, which brings together three seasoned Hollywood veterans in front of the camera: Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones.
  • 11:15 p.m.: „Gladiator“ on ProSieben – The sequel “Gladiator II” by Ridley Scott only opened in cinemas this year. The 2000 debut with Russell Crow and Joaquin Phoenix is available on ProSieben today.
  • 1:55 a.m.: “Gremlins – Little Monsters” on Kabel Eins – Would you like some horror for Christmas? Kabel Eins shows the 1984 film “Gremlins” and immediately afterwards at 3:45 a.m. “Gremlins 2” from 1990.
