FIM has officially opened its new headquarters

October 10, 2024 marked the inauguration of the FIM’s new headquarters next to its previous home in the Municipality of Mies (Switzerland) with the International Federation of Motorcyclists having been based in the Vaud region for almost thirty years.

FIM President Jorge Viegas celebrated the success of this project by cutting the ribbon in the presence of four hundred distinguished guests. Among those in attendance were supporters of the FIM World Championships and Cups, Legendary champions – including fifteen-time World Champion Giacomo Agostini, key local and International media, FIM partners as well as FIM members.

Before the official opening, guests saw a performance by two Trial titans outside the new venue: Toni Bou, 36-time World Champion and Emma Bristow, 10-time World Women’s Champion, showcased their skills and talent, offering an exciting sight

The design of the new FIM headquarters embodies the essence of motorcycling, reflecting the values ​​and spirit of the sport, along with the brotherhood, cooperation and communication that unite the passionate motorcycling community. FIM has prioritized environmentally friendly building materials by choosing those that are low-carbon, bio-sourced, geographically sourced and reusable that comply with Swiss standards.

The new headquarters represent a vibrant and positive future for the FIM, where those who will live within it are characterized by 121 National Federations, from 6 Continents and almost four hundred people, who work every week collectively to ensure the millions of fans worldwide they can enjoy the great spectacle that is modern motorcycling.

The impressive new structure also incorporates the new FIM Technology Laboratory, which is the pinnacle of motorcycling innovation and is used to showcase the FIM’s core values. This dedicated space focuses on technology and security, significantly enhancing the character of the new building.

The materials of the new building include 3,500 m3 of concrete and 13,000 m2 of frame with a combined mass of 385 tons. More than 40 km of electrical / network / fiber optic cables. Over 230 windows, over 2,300 meters of piping and almost 540 meters of beams.

This ambitious project was realized thanks to the support of local partners such as the Municipality of Mies, the local communities and the Canton of Vaud, reflecting a shared commitment to regional development.

Jorge Viegas, President of the FIM, said: “The new headquarters allow everyone who works in the FIM or in motorcycling around the world to benefit from a remarkable home that meets their needs. The architecture is as dynamic and alive as the experience of riding a motorcycle. It is full of transparency in line with my vision for the FIM. It’s a building that breathes a space where more dreams can come true.”
