Why look at the outdoor thermometer when you always have it in your pocket? Weather widgets are one of the most popular parts of Android phones, and few people have one on their desktop. But you may have already noticed that widgets don’t have as much data or options for customization. And because of this, Google is lagging behind the competition, it is now working on new widgets. They will not only have several different designsbut new weather data will also be visible in them.
They have now appeared in the beta version of the Google Weather app 3 new widgetswhich will have 3 different sizes: 2×2, 4×2 a 4×3 (there are currently 2 widget sizes available, namely 3×2 and 4×2).
For the smallest, you will only see the current weather icon, the current temperature and the daily minimum and maximum. The second option will also offer an overview of the weather during the given day. And the largest widget will also contain the largest amount of information that you will be able to monitor directly on the mobile screen – location, temperature, detailed hourly forecast and forecast for several days.
The following information should therefore appear in the weather widgets from Google:
- current temperature
- highest and lowest temperature during the day
- hourly weather forecast
- forecast for several days ahead
It is not yet clear when we will see the improvement. Google has not yet announced a release date. But it is likely that the improvement will happen soon, because Android users have not received any major updates for quite a few years – and many people therefore prefer to use third-party applications.
