Finally! The Galaxy A56 will offer the improvements that users have been clamoring for for years

  • Samsung is preparing a major upgrade of the mid-range Galaxy A56
  • The new processor will offer better performance, the selfie camera will have a lower resolution, but higher quality
  • Unfortunately, the macro sensor remains, as does the 50Mpx main camera

Samsung has several successful model series in its portfolio, with the Galaxy A5x series being one of the best-selling. The South Korean manufacturer is well aware of the importance of this series and is slowly preparing for the introduction of the next generation. Except for the new processor Exynos 1580 we will see redesigned selfie camerawhich will finally replace the 32 Mpx sensor used for years.

Finally a better selfie

According to information from the GalaxyClub website, Samsung has decided to replace the 32MP selfie camera used for years new 12 Mpx sensor. While it may seem like lower resolution means lower quality, the opposite is true. The number of megapixels alone is far from the only thing that determines the quality of images. Much more important are factors like the size of the sensor, the brightness of the lens or the ability to process the image in different lighting conditions. On the back of the phone, we find a proven set-up with a main 50MP camera, complemented by a 12MP wide-angle lens. Unfortunately, there is also a 5 Mpx macro camera, which, like its predecessors, will be more limited.

Modern processor with better performance

The heart of the phone will be the newly introduced processor Exynos 1580which Samsung revealed without much fanfare. The chipset uses a modern 4nm production process and brings several interesting improvements compared to its predecessor.

exynos 1580 chipset

The main currency is the new CPU divided into three clusters:

  • The most powerful Cortex-A720 core with a clock speed of 2.9 GHz
  • A trio of identical cores at 2.6 GHz
  • Four economical Cortex-A520 running at 1.95 GHz

The Xclipse 540 graphics chip can boast 37% increase in performancewhile at the same load as the predecessor consumes 20% less energy. Samsung achieved this by adding a second WGP (Work Group Processor) and increasing the buffer memory.

Support is also worth mentioning LPDDR5 RAMthe processor can now deal with is 200MP camera and allows video recording in 4K at 60 fps. The Exynos 1580 also offers motion smoothing and better noise reduction thanks to TNR (Temporal Noise Reduction) technology. In practice, it should take better quality shots in poor lighting conditions. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 can be used for connectivity, the NPU with a performance of 14.7 TOPS will take care of AI calculations.

When exactly Samsung will introduce the Galaxy A56 is not yet clear, but according to the leaks so far, it should be early next year.
