“Find your beekeeper”, a new campaign for new victories

The Union of Beekeeping Organizations of Serbia (SPOS) in cooperation with GIZ launched a campaign called “Find your beekeeper”. This campaign would educate the public about the importance of buying real bee honey. The campaign aims to inform consumers about the ways in which they can get authentic honey. At the same time, he emphasizes the importance of buying directly from beekeepers who are members of SPOS. These beekeepers are subject to strict standards and can be sanctioned if they are found to be adulterating honey. SPOS strives to ensure that all its members respect high quality standards, especially through the application of “Good Beekeeping Practices”.

Buying honey directly from beekeepers who are part of SPOS is one of the most reliable ways for consumers to get quality and natural honey. Consumers can easily find beekeepers in their municipalities through the official channels of SPOS, which further ensures confidence in the products they receive. In addition, honey can be purchased under the common brand “OUR HONEY”. The brand is available in large retail chains throughout Serbia, including Lidl, Idea, Merkator and others. This honey is packaged in the SPOS facility and bears quality marks that have been checked in renowned world laboratories.

All for the benefit of beekeepers

Special attention in the campaign is devoted to the “NAŠ MED” plant, which is the only large honey packaging facility in Serbia that does not import honey from abroad. Other producers often import honey of dubious quality at very low prices, which represents a significant risk for domestic consumers. “NAŠ MED” stands out because it not only does not import honey, but also has three certificates that guarantee product quality: BRC 9, HACCP and HALAL. These certificates confirm that working and production conditions are in accordance with the highest international standards, which additionally ensures consumer confidence.

In addition, SPOS is preparing a mobile application “Medoteka”, which will allow users to get all the necessary information about honey. This application will be useful not only for those who want to know more about the health benefits of honey, but also for those who are looking for reliable sources to buy quality honey. The “Find Your Beekeeper” campaign seeks to educate the public about the importance of buying domestic, natural honey. This contributes to people’s health and support to local beekeepers.

Ultimately, the goal of the campaign is to make consumers aware that buying honey from reliable beekeepers not only ensures quality, but also supports the sustainable development of domestic beekeeping.
