Finnair is forced to cancel flights due to a protest by the Finnish pilots’ union (SLL), writes Rus.ERR with reference to the Finnish news service Yle.
As part of the strike, pilots will not operate flights on December 9 and 13; a total of 300 flights will be canceled on these days.
The carrier estimates that the impact will affect around 33,000 Finnair customers.
“We are very sorry that the union went to a protest instead of negotiations, which will affect the plans of thousands of our customers during the Christmas season,” Finnair Managing Director Jaakko Shildt commented on the situation.
The carrier is doing everything it can to help customers, such as offering them alternative flights where possible, he said.
