A fire that broke out this Sunday in Vinhais, in the district of Bragança, has an active front and is currently mobilizing 202 operatives and 71 land resources.
The area of greatest concern is in the parish of Vale das Fontes. The fire is burning very intensely in a difficult-to-access location, but no homes are at risk, a source from Civil Protection told SIC.
The fire consumes the bush area and forced the closure of National Road 103between Valpaço and Rebordelo. The wind and difficult access are the biggest obstacles to fighting the flames.
Speaking to SIC Notícias, the Mayor of Vinhais, Luís Fernandes, confirmed to SIC that about 70 people were removed from their homes as a precaution, but were able to return to their homes in the meantime.
The alert was given at around 4:20 pm. By the end of the afternoon, there were 100 operators and eight aircraft fighting the fire.
