Firefox is one of the most popular browsers, and although Chrome pushed it out of the limelight years ago, it still remains in the top five most used browsers. If you are among the users who rely on its services, you should pay attention. A serious vulnerability has been discovered in Firefox, which can pose a danger to users.

Firefox under attack

This vulnerability discovered the research team of Mozilla, which is behind the Firefox browser, and this is a zero-day vulnerability. This means that, although it has already been discovered, it has not yet been fully patched, which is why this type of vulnerability poses a great risk.

Developers and security personnel often do not know about them for a long time, they are not easy to detect, and before a fix update is released, they can be exploited at a really high rate. And if the user is not aware of this problem and decides not to apply the update, he remains at risk.

Dangerous animations

This vulnerability was linked to CSS animations in the browser and, according to information from Mozilla’s research team, was actually exploited by attackers. Specific cases were not specified, but hackers can use this type of vulnerability to inject and execute more or less any code.

Zero-day vulnerabilities are a wide-open door to your computer through which attackers can put virtually anything on it. For example, a dangerous Trojan horse, some spyware, malware or ransomware. Security software helps, but a patch from the publisher is critical.

The Firefox update is out

The good news is that Mozilla developers started addressing this vulnerability immediately after it was discovered and have already released a fix update. The new version of Firefox with build number 131.0.2 fixes it and really don’t wait a minute to switch to it. In addition, the developers have also released updates to Firefox ESR 128.3.1 and Firefox ESR 115.16.1.
