Firmware update for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4: What’s new and improved

Apple has released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2available for both the version with connector Lightning that for that one with USB-C. This update comes less than a week after the last update introduced with iOS 18which brought with it several new features such as improvedVocal Isolationcustom volume and more. At the same time, Apple has also released a new firmware version for the AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation, the version 7A304.

The firmware of the AirPods Pro 2 has been updated from version 7A294 at the 7A302but Apple has not yet provided detailed release notes for this update. However, the update is likely to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements, as is often the case with these incremental updates.

  3. Find yours AirPods in the list of connected devices.
  4. Tap the “i” next to the name of your AirPods.
  5. Check the firmware version number in the dedicated section.

How to update AirPods firmware

Unfortunately, there is no way to manually update the firmware on your AirPods. Apple updates automatically when your AirPods are charging and within Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that is connected to Wi-Fi.

Apple specifies that to verify that your AirPods have the latest firmware version, simply hold them near one of your Apple devices while they are charging.
