(Andong = Newsis) Reporter Ryu Sang-hyeon = On the 25th, the first dividend was paid like a Christmas present to farmers participating in joint farming in Dalsan Village, Yeongdeok.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 26th, this dividend is the second income dividend following Mungyeong Yeongsun District, and the dividend is 3,000 won per 3.3㎡ (pyeong) and 9 million won per hectare, which is higher than when growing rice (7 million won/ha).
Farmers are guaranteed a stable income without having to do hard work, and when participating in joint farming, they can also receive separate labor costs (90,000-100,000 won/day, 150,000-300,000 won/day for agricultural machinery work), so their actual income is higher. It increases.
Kim Jong-cheol (69 years old), a farmer who received the dividend, said, “I was skeptical about whether I could farm cabbage after farming rice all my life in the Dalsan Valley of Yeongdeok. My farming was so good that I received a dividend like this. It’s like a Christmas gift I’ve received for the first time in my life.”
Baek Seong-gyu (62 years old), CEO of the Palgaksan Pickled Cabbage Farming Association, who leads the Dalsan district in Yeongdeok, said, “This year’s crop was not good due to frequent rains during the harvest season, but I am very happy that we were able to keep the dividend promised to the farmers due to the good cabbage price.” “We are grateful to the farmers who provided us, and we will work together to increase our income further in the future,” he said.
Income dividends are paid in two installments, and this dividend is paid out at 3,000 won per 3.3㎡ (pyeong) based on the amount of this year’s fall cabbage harvest and pickled cabbage sales. The first dividend amount is a total of 136 million won, and additional dividends will be paid in August next year after harvesting and selling soybeans and onions.
Dalsan district in Yeongdeok converted 21 hectares of farmland, previously used for rice farming, into cabbage with about 30 farms. They planted beans and spring cabbage in the summer, onions and fall cabbage in the winter, and significantly increased added value through pickled cabbage processing.
In the Mungyeong Yeongsun district, which was the first to receive income dividends, dividends for the second year will be paid on the 28th.
As the fact that dividends have been distributed for the second year following last year has become known, the number of farmers expressing their intention to participate in joint farming is increasing.
Gumi is also scheduled to pay dividends in January next year.
In the Ungok district of Gumi, 45 farmers participated in the 30ha area, planting and harvesting soybeans and special rice in the summer, and currently wheat and forage have been sown.
Currently, 14 joint farming districts in the province are being promoted, and the goal is to expand and create 30 districts across all cities and counties in the province by 2026.
Next year, a large-scale conversion of rice paddy crops such as soybeans and forage to double cropping will be promoted, focusing on large-scale fields.
Gyeongbuk Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “When everyone said it was difficult, we proved success through great agricultural transformation. The government is also adopting Gyeongbuk’s example as a policy and spreading it across the country.” He added, “We are changing the agricultural policy paradigm in Korea through great agricultural transformation led by Gyeongbuk.” “I will do my best,” he said.
