Fishing trawler from Myanmar shot at, Teknaf fisherman killed

The Myanmar Navy has fired at a Bangladeshi fishing trawler that was fishing off St. Martin Island in the Bay of Bengal. One jailer died. 3 more fishermen were shot. Apart from this, there have been allegations of arresting several fishermen including 4 trawlers in this incident.

The incident took place on a trawler owned by the residents of Shahpari Island in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on Wednesday (October 9) at noon. Later on Thursday (October 10) afternoon, the abductees were released, said the owners of the trawler. It will take them more than 4 hours to reach Teknaf.

The deceased Md. Osman is the son of Bachchu Mia from Konarpara area of ​​Shahpari Island. He is a trawler fisherman owned by Saiful Company in Bazarpara area of ​​Shahpari Island. The injured 3 fishermen also belong to that trawler. However, their names and addresses could not be confirmed.

According to the owners of the trawler, the incident took place in the Bay of Bengal estuary named Moulvir Shil, southwest of Saint Martin Island on Wednesday afternoon.

The owners of the 4 trawlers that were captured are Matiur Rahman, son of Muslim Mia of Mistripara, Shahpari Island, Abdullah, son of deceased Ali Hochen, his brother Ata Ullah, son of Chayed Majhi of Uttarpara. I have These 4 trawlers have 60 sailors.

Saiful, the owner of the trawler, said that while fishing in the sea, members of the Myanmar Navy suddenly chased and opened fire. After that, the sailors along with 5 trawlers were captured and taken to Myanmar. Where one of the 4 shot dead in the trawler owned by him. The trawler left on Thursday. The trawler left for Shahpari Island with the dead and injured fishermen. But still not reached the ghat. Motiur Rahman, the owner of the trawler, said that it is not possible to contact the captured trawler and the sailors. The details will be known when the trawler with the deceased reaches the wharf.
