Fisker Ocean buyers repair their cars themselves!

Faced with the inability of bankrupt Fisker to repair their SUVs, Fisker Ocean buyers have formed an association to help each other.

Buying a promising new car from a manufacturer that has barely left the cradle can be dangerous. This is unfortunately the case for thousands of owners of Fisker Ocean, an SUV from the young American brand Fisker, now bankrupt. No after-sales service, faulty emergency braking system, blocked doors … the problems are coming thick and fast for Ocean owners and no one can help them. A complicated situation that could make many motorists regret their purchase. And yet, it will probably be impossible for them to resell their vehicle. A forced marriage, in a way.

Fisker Ocean Buyers Form Their Own Association

But the unfortunate owners of Fisker Ocean are not letting themselves be demotivated. Faced with the American manufacturer’s inability to carry out repairs and resolve manufacturing problems, buyers of the SUV have set up an association in the United States in order to stick together and defend their interests. The “Fisker Owners Assn”, as it is called, now has more than 3,000 members, as reported by Los Angeles Times. The main goal is to prevent owners’ Fisker Oceans from becoming unusable and ultimately a heavy, unnecessary investment. As a reminder, some fully-optioned models cost more than $61,000.
The association wants to allow all buyers to have spare parts and software updates in order to prevent vehicles from quickly becoming obsolete. For the moment, the association does not have access to the operating system developed by the American manufacturer. But it has hired a lawyer so that it can have a copy of the code and fix current and future computer bugs in certain models. In the meantime, the most computer and mechanically gifted members manage to solve most of the problems encountered by the others.

Fisker officially bankrupt since June

The very young American manufacturer Fisker was definitively declared bankrupt on June 17th. However, the company had tried by all means to save itself. Four manufacturers were nevertheless interested in taking over the brand. But in the end, nothing was signed in this regard. Previous discussions with Nissan had been mentioned. Despite the liquidation of the manufacturer, there are still Fisker Ocean models in stock. To sell the latest new SUVs, the brand is offering discounts of up to €21,000 in France. The discounts could even increase. In addition to these offers, Fisker has managed to sign an agreement with American Lease to sell more than 3,000 new vehicles, again at reduced prices. However, if the amounts of the discounts are tempting, we insistently remind you of the “struggles” encountered by the owners above.
This is not the first time that a company founded by Henri Fisker, who initiated the project, has gone bankrupt. In 2007, he had already launched Fisker Automotive, which was also liquidated six years later in 2013.
