The Czech police detained a man who committed a brutal attack in the Prague subway in August. According to the Czech media, this is professional boxer Tomáš Bureš, who was supposed to attack a man because he did not want to give him his phone.
After a series of blows, the victim suffered serious head injuries in the facial area. According to the sport.cz website, the attacker was detained last week by the intervention unit.
The assailant was suspected of the crime of attempted grievous bodily harm and disorderly conduct, for which he faces a prison sentence of up to ten years if found guilty.
Currently, the young boxer is being prosecuted in custody according to the court’s decision.
The attack was supposed to have taken place in the metro lobby, while the young man approached the victim and asked him to hand over his mobile phone.
When he refused, the boxer immediately attacked. This was followed by several punches to the head and face, and finally, knee strikes to the chin.
The attacked man did not actively defend himself, he only tried to cover his head. The young man then ran away.
“The attacked man caused several fractures to his head, tooth damage, extensive bruises and other injuries,” police spokeswoman Eva Kropáčová said.
The main evidence was a video captured by a subway camera, thanks to which the young man’s appearance was known.
