Five Jamaican Friday Links

A few weeks ago, on this site, I had a bit of an upset stomach with the way many people have started to say “here”. This applied, among other things, to a female football expert who repeatedly said “armies”.

Well, I got some air and could start living with the fact that this is just the way things are. It’s not something I can or should change. We must pronounce the words as we will. Here in Svendborg, for example, we say hångklæe when we have to describe how we dry the body after a shower.

And on a nearby island, people say if they don’t know the answer to a question: “Je ve ikk det”. And it is just so charming that we preserve the Danish language in many different ways. I love dialects and ways of speaking, and I always fall behind when I hear a genuine Bornholmer explain a topic.

Well, I have found a new person that I would like to mention for his way of answering questions. This applies to the Danish cycling hero Vingegaard, who is often asked questions by curious journalists. It happens repeatedly in such a tour. Time and time again, this unique talent has to answer questions about this and that. And now I’ve noticed how he always buys a little time when he has to answer.

He simply uses the word “well” at the beginning of all answers.

And that is absolutely brilliant. Instead of starting with a yes or no, he begins the answer with a yes. This gives him time to think about how to formulate the best answer. And yes, it’s not minutes of thinking time he wins – I know that – but it gives him microseconds to assess how best to answer the questions.

With this completely irrelevant post, I have prepared 5 Friday links. And today they will be about a free email program, free downloads from Ashampoo, an artist from South Funen, pictures and even more pictures.

https://lottelamp.dk: Lotte is an extremely talented artist from beautiful South Funen.

https://www.ashampoo.com/da-dk/free-downloads: Bindegal (thanks, my friend) could talk about free downloads from Ashampoo in the forum. Note that you just have to read things through before you click on Install.

https://imgur.com: Here you can view and share photos. In all forms.

https://awkwardfamilyphotos.com: More pictures, and here you will find a lot of crooks.

https://www.getmailbird.com: Mailbird was previously a purchasing program that could handle your emails. It is now available in a free version.
