The TV screen at home has been rolling quite a bit lately. The European Championship in football, the Tour de France and Wimbledon attract me, and luckily I don’t watch it all. It can also be a bit too much of a good thing when you consider that the Olympics are also knocking on the door. A sporting summer of the very best.
Sport is healthy, so I take comfort in the fact that it is not the worst thing you can spend your time on. Looking objectively at the matter, however, there are perfectly good alternatives that can gain room for maneuver in my simplistic life. Let’s look at some of the activities that can come into play here during the summer months.
A walk with Viggo (labrador) and my wife is one of the high jumpers. It’s nice to get out and feel the South Funen nature, and one of the favorites is a stroll by beautiful Lundeborg. Spodsbjerg on Langeland can certainly also do something. And Viggo loves sand and water.
A drive to Rudkøbing City is also a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This small, cozy town can do anything, and it offers Langeland charm that you should catch up on if you haven’t been there yet. People are so friendly in Langeland, so maybe you will consider buying a home over there. Then you have been warned.
Golf in Svendborg
I must also admit that 18 holes on Svendborg’s eminent golf course is a pleasure that I can easily stumble upon here in the summertime. The course is in good shape at the moment, and a visit to the golf restaurant is highly recommended. A golf burger and a good glass of beer. Nice.
And then I want to take my wife for a few nights in a nice place in Jutland. Maybe two places. Vejle is an obvious option. Sønderborg as well. Maybe an overlooked inn somewhere. Time will tell when the next weeks welcome us. The most important thing is to get rid of TV habits and get out and experience the world. It is always enriching.
