For Halloween, the series will pay tribute to Venom (first image)

The panel dedicated to Matt Groening’s animated series at San Diego Comic Con proved one thing: the creator of the Simpson and of Futurama is far from having exhausted all its resources in terms of parody. This is evidenced by the first image of the parody segment devoted to Venom for the next Halloween episode.

The Simpsons: Homage to Venom

On December 17, 2024, the animated series The Simpsons will celebrate its thirty-fifth anniversary. An obviously symbolic anniversary, which gives reason to marvel at the exceptional longevity of this jewel of the American small screen. But how can we explain this longevity? By the humorous genius of Matt Groening and his teams, of course, who were able to capture so well the mentality and culture of an entire country, perceived on the scale of a city, as the series did after it (with much more seriousness) The Wirethe masterpiece of David Simon and HBO. But also to an incredible ability to sense the spirit of an era, by multiplying mobilizing cultural referencesof the Soprano to U2, Green Day, Alan Moore, Harry Potter, Game of ThronesArnold Schwarzenegger, Al Gore ou George H. W. Bush.

As such, the annual Halloween episodes, also known as SimpsonĀ Horror Show (or Treehouse of Horror in their original version), are entirely devoted to parody. If the classics of horror cinema and literature (from Dracula from Bram Stoker to Paranormal Activity et Poltergeist) have long been at the center of these episodes, they have gradually included parodies of films and series linked to Pop Culture (Harry Potter, Westworld, Guardians of the Galaxy, Parasite or Mad Max : Fury Road). The fame of these special episodes is such that they have become real television events, the content of which is teased several months in advance.

So the panel at SDCC was an opportunity to unveil one of the segments of the next episode of Simpson Horror Showdedicated to Venomas illustrated in the poster below, inspired by the film poster Venom by Ruben Fleischer with Tom Hardy in the lead role.
