forced him to abandon the race

Miller’s crash on lap nine of the Sprint Race was caused by a seagull carcass stuck in his bike. The pilot showed signs of the impact with the animal on social media.

The misadventure that struck is incredible Jack Miller during the Sprint Race del GP Australia: the rider did not finish the race and, once he checked his bike in the pits, he discovered that he had the carcass of a seagull stuck between the fairing and the brake lever. For the home rider it was a bad blow to have to leave before the end, for a reason apparently inexplicable in the eyes of the spectators who only discovered all this later.

Already during Q1 the driver had hit a rabbit, but this time the seagull caused him irreparable damage which forced him to immediately return to the pits while he was in eighth place. On Instagram revealed the mess, complete with photos of the motorcycle damaged by the fall and of the poor seagull that unfortunately got stuck while flying low just above the track.

Miller’s fall caused by a seagull

The dynamics were not very clear, given that Miller apparently fell without doing anything or hitting a teammate. At the beginning everyone thought the bike had broken down, a hypothesis supported by the exit before the end of the Sprint Race. But then the Australian revealed the mystery: on Instagram he published the video of the motorbike damaged by the impact with the ground, with a seagull’s feather on it which was the cause of everything. There are also images showing the animal’s carcass stuck between the fairing and the brake lever, in a potentially dangerous position.

Max Temporali: “Radio communication in MotoGP is a danger, the riders are hanging by a thread”

Then Miller explained everything to the microphones: “On the second lap I entered Turn 1, and I saw a seagull flapping its wings, in difficulty due to the passing of the motorbikes. It got stuck between the brake lever and the handlebars and I couldn’t stop. It was unreal. In Q1 however I was starting the flying lap, when I was in Turn 8 I saw a rabbit coming. I thought ‘he can’t be that stupid’ but he was, going straight under my front wheel.”
