Formation of Supervisory Committee of Press Club Rangpur

Due to financial and administrative irregularities in the management of the organization, the Social Services Directorate has formed a supervisory committee of four members after temporarily expelling the committee members of Press Club Rangpur.

According to the letter signed by the Director General of the Department of Social Services, two separate committees were sent to the Deputy Director Social Services office for approval by Press Club Rangpur (Registration No. Rangpur/359/91) a few months ago. When the matter is referred to the Department of Social Services, a Deputy Director of the agency is assigned to investigate.

The investigating officer opined that financial and administrative irregularities were evident in the management of the organization (Press Club Rangpur). In the light of the submitted inquiry report, under section 9(1) of the Voluntary Social Welfare Organizations (Registration and Regulation) Ordinance, 1961, by suspending the board of directors of the organization (press club) and convening the Rangpur divisional director of the Directorate of Social Services under section 9(2), forming a four-member supervisory committee. is

The other members of the committee are – Rangpur Divisional Additional Director of Social Services Directorate, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office and City Social Services Officer. Adhem will organize the election program by preparing the draft voter list along with updating the membership list after taking charge. Later, the power will be transferred to the elected committee.

Also prepare the income-expenditure account by appointing the reputed audit firm of the country. Legal action will be taken if financial irregularities are proved against any member. In the interest of the organization, the existing constitution can be amended and approved by the registration authority.

Press Club Rangpur is a circle with a handful of journalists and non-journalists for a long time. After the July Revolution, journalists who were discriminated against started a movement for their rights. When the movement started, several journalists were harassed by non-journalists of the Press Club. These miscreants even vandalized the Information Advisor’s meeting at Rangpur Circuit House.

The activists said, among the few journalists in the press club, the teacher for 7 is an officer of an autonomous institution. There are 5 people who are not involved in the journalism profession.

They said, we welcome the decision of social service. I hope Press Club Rangpur will be a meeting place for journalists.

Meanwhile, when the news of the appointment of the administrator spread among the journalists, the disenfranchised journalists cheered by distributing sweets in the press club and its surrounding areas.
