Former ADC of DB Shahen Shah sacked

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Shahen Shah of Dhaka Metropolitan Intelligence Police has been temporarily suspended. This information was informed in a notification of the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday. This police officer is currently in jail after being arrested in a murder case. Shahen Shah was promoted to Supernumerary Superintendent of Police in November last year.

According to the notification, he will be attached to Rangpur Range DIG office and will get subsistence allowance during his dismissal.

It is known that Shahen Shah is in jail after police remand after he was arrested in the case of killing Ramiz Uddin Roop (21), a student of Daffodil University during the anti-discrimination movement. On August 4, Ramiz was shot dead in Karwan Bazar area of ​​the capital. Later on October 16, Shahen Shah was taken into the custody of the DB police. There are several cases against this controversial police officer, including multiple murders.

Shahen Shah was accused of assaulting lawyers and beating up journalists in the High Court while working in the DB. Besides, the allegations of illegal use of force against him in Shahbagh and press club centered movements and protests are very old. The suspended police officer’s home is in Begumpur village of Fatepur East Union in Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur.
