Former expatriate welfare minister Imran Ahmed arrested

Former Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Imran Ahmed has been arrested. A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested him from Banani in the capital on Sunday night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Department of DMP. Waydur Rahman confirmed this information to Dhaka Times.

Imran Ahmad was a six-time Member of Parliament from Sylhet-4 Constituency. After he won the 2018 election, he was first made the Minister of State for Expatriate Welfare. Later he was given the charge of full minister. And he became the minister of the same ministry in Sheikh Hasina’s government formed after the election of January 7.

On September 3, a victim named Altaf Khan filed a case against 103 people including Imran Ahmed in Paltan Police Station of the capital. momAccused was accused of embezzling 24 thousand crore rupees by syndicate.
