Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh passed away

Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India and the senior leader of the country’s main opposition Congress, has crossed into the country of no return. He breathed his last at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi at the age of 92 at 9:51 PM local time on Thursday.

According to the report of the Indian media NDTV, Manmohan Singh was taken to the hospital around 8 pm local time on Thursday due to a sudden deterioration in his physical condition. But he crossed over to the land of no return.

One of the shapers of India’s economic reforms retired from the Rajya Sabha in April this year.

Veteran Congress leader Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences due to age-related ailments, AIIMS said in a statement. He suddenly lost consciousness at his home on Thursday. After being brought to the hospital, despite all the efforts of the doctors, he could not regain consciousness. Hospital doctors declared him dead at 9:51 PM.

Manmohan Singh was elected as the 14th Prime Minister of India in 2014. He served two terms as the prime minister of the Congress alliance.

Manmohan Singh first joined the Ministry of Commerce of the Government of India in 1971 as Economic Adviser. Later he served as Finance Minister of India from 1991 to 1996.
