Jatiya Party presidium member and former Member of Parliament of Barisal-3 (Babuganj-Muladi) Golam Kibria Tipu has been arrested by the police.
Local people arrested him in Bir Baghair area of Konda Union of South Keraniganj at around 7 pm on Thursday and handed him over to the police.
Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj police station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Times.
He said that Golam Kibria Tipu owns a house in Bir Baghair area. Locals found him there and arrested him and informed the police. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and brought Tipu to the Dakshin Keraniganj police station. However, there is no case in his name at Dakshin Keraniganj police station.
Golam Kibria Tipu was elected three times Member of Parliament from Barisal-3 (Babuganj-Muladi) constituency from Jatiya Party.
