Advisor to BNP Chairperson and former MP Begum Rozi Kabir passed away (Inna-Lillahi…..Rajiun).
Today, Wednesday (November 13) at 5 am, he died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
According to the family members, he was suffering from liver complications for a long time. Meanwhile, except for Namaz and Janaza, Asr will be held at Chittagong Jamiatul Falah National Mosque. Rozi Kabir was elected Member of Parliament three times in his political life.
He was involved with BNP since its inception. Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia, who played an outstanding role in the anti-dictatorship movement, was a faithful comrade. He served as the President of Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal Chittagong City Committee, Senior Vice President of Metropolitan BNP, Special Assistant to BNP Chairperson and various editorial posts of Central Committee of BNP.
Basically, his political journey started with the hand of his elder brother former Deputy Speaker and Planning Minister Barrister Sultan Ahmed.
As a traveling companion of former Prime Minister Begum Zia, he served as a representative of the Bangladesh team in important conferences such as the United Nations General Assembly, BIMSTEC, SAARC, as well as state visits to Thailand, China, India, China, Sri Lanka, Denmark, the United States and the United Kingdom. Apart from being a member of the Standing Committee of the Jatiya Sangsad, he was also a member of the Senate of Chittagong University and a board member of Chittagong Development Authority – CDA.
Apart from her politics, Begum Rosi Kabir’s wanderings in various social and business organizations are worth mentioning.
He was associated with Lions Club International, Bangladesh Red Crescent, Bangladesh Family Planning Association, Diabetic Association, Bangladesh Thalassemia Association, Sahik, BNSB, Shishu Academy, Mahila Krira Samiti and Agrabad Mother and Child Hospital.
Begum Rosi Kabir was born in Azgar Ali Chowdhury, a famous zamindar family in North Halishahar of Chittagong city.
Son of Abdul Mabud Saudagar, a prominent businessman of South Halisahar and founder president of Bandar Thana BNP and married to Humayun Kabir, chairman of the famous Chittagong hotel “Hotel Shahjan” and Asiatic Cotton Mill.
Ratnagarbha Begum Rosi Kabir’s two sons and two daughters have been educated in higher education from abroad and are working as economists, engineers, teachers and doctors abroad.
