Formula 1 | Adrian Newey to Aston Martin? Manager Eddie Jordan reacts

According to reports, the move of design guru Adrian Newey from Red Bull to Aston Martin is complete. Newey’s manager Eddie Jordan did not want to confirm this late on Tuesday evening, but he did not deny it either.

When it came to Adrian Newey’s future in recent weeks, his manager Eddie Jordan was rarely at a loss for an answer. The former Formula 1 driver always stressed that the engineer had not yet made a decision. Jordan left no room for speculation.

When the manager was asked by the BBC on Tuesday evening about the consistent reports that Newey’s move to Aston Martin is now complete, the 76-year-old suddenly struck a different tone.

Jordan does not deny Newey agreement with Aston Martin

“I’m not prepared to give an answer to that,” Jordan said evasively. He would not comment on the reports “in any way,” added the Newey manager. A clear denial sounds different.

On Tuesday, several media outlets reported an agreement between Newey and Aston Martin. The announcement of the change is said to be made in the coming days. Confirmation is reportedly planned before the upcoming Grand Prix weekend in Baku.

Newey’s “confidentiality” expires

“Autosport” reported that the timing of the announcement of Newey’s move was deliberately planned. According to the report, Newey has not yet been allowed to comment on his new employer. However, this “confidentiality” will expire in September because his contract with Red Bull is only valid for six months from then on. From April 2025, he will be allowed to join a new team.

The star engineer’s move had been hotly debated in recent months. Apparently, almost every team tried their luck with the 65-year-old. Aston Martin ultimately secured the contract for several reasons.
