Formula 1: Leclerc won in Austin

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc won the Formula 1 race for the US Grand Prix in Austin (Texas).

Leclerc started well, took the lead from the fourth position and with good driving kept the first place and achieved the eighth victory of his career, the third of the season. Second place was taken by Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, and third was Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, although he crossed the finish line in fourth place.

Lando Norris from McLaren, who started from pole position, took fourth place, due to a five-second penalty at the very end for illegally overtaking Verstappen. He finished the race 4.1 seconds ahead of the three-time consecutive world champion. His teammate Oskar Piastri took fifth place, and sixth was George Russell from Mercedes, who started from the pits.

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez took seventh place, eighth was Nico Hulkenberg from Haas, ninth was Liam Lawson from Team RB, and tenth was Franco Colapinto from Williams.

Verstappen extended his lead in the championship to 57 points over second-placed Norris.

The next race in the championship is on October 27 in Mexico.
