“Our wings complied with the technical regulations and passed all applicable flexibility tests,” Stella made it clear once again in an exclusive interview with the English-language edition of “Motorsport.com”, a sister platform of “Motorsport-Total.com” in the Motorsport Network.

“At the same time, we held discussions with the World Automobile Association and received all the necessary assurances,” asserts the McLaren team boss. He therefore could not understand the discussions about the rear wing, which was revised again before the race in Austin.

“Of course we read a lot of comments in the media, opinions that came mainly from our competitors, not necessarily from journalists, and some articles seemed to be a means of spreading the voice of some of our opponents on the track.”

Stella confirms that he was very annoyed by the behavior of the competition after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. “It was annoying to see the articles that were used by the teams to put McLaren in a bad light through the media,” complains the Italian.

The technical aspects have been discussed with the automobile association and brought into line with the regulations, “but the attempt to put a team in a bad light puts us in a situation where there is nothing concrete.”

Despite the anger, Stella also sees a positive influence. “In the end, this story has strengthened us even more as a team, because when the opponents are so distracted by our technical solutions, I can say that they are giving us good news, because it means that they are losing their compass a little. “
