The FIA has decided to add a fourth DRS zone to the Marina Bay circuit for the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. The decision came after drivers failed to convince the governing body to add the extra zone to boost overtaking opportunities at last year’s race.
Following a minor change to the track layout made ahead of the 2023 race, the FIA had consulted teams about the possible addition of a 4th DRS zone, but the governing body had said there was no clear consensus.
This year, however, it has arrived and double DRS is now created between turns 13 and 14, with the aim of providing better overtaking opportunities on a track that does not favor overtaking. This will be the first time since DRS was adopted that a track will feature 4 such zones.
