Four Obstetrics and Gynecology emergency rooms and three Pediatrics emergency rooms are closed this Sunday, according to information made available at 08:15 on the National Health Service (SNS) Portal. Compared to Saturday, there is one more Pediatric emergency service closed (Hospital Santo André, in Leiria) and one less Gynecology and Obstetrics service (Hospital de Braga).
According to the information, the Gynecology and Obstetrics emergency services at the Hospital de São Bernardo, in Setúbal, the Hospital Distrital de Santarém, the Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Almada, and the Hospital Santo André, in Leiria, are closed. The Hospital Professor Dr. Fernando Fonseca, known as Hospital Amadora-Sintra, has the Obstetrics and Gynecology emergency service referenced between midnight and midnight, and the Hospital São Francisco Xavier, between midnight and 9 am and 9 pm and midnight.
In the referenced units, services are reserved for internal emergency cases or those referred by the Urgent Patient Guidance Center (CODU) of the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEM) and by the SNS 24 line. The emergency service at Hospital Garcia de Orta, in Almada, has emergency references only for cases referred by the Urgent Patient Guidance Center.
The SNS Portal also refers the closure of the pediatric emergency departments at Hospital São Bernardo, in Setúbal, Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Loures, and Hospital Santo André, in Leiria. The pediatric emergency department at Hospital Amadora-Sintra is open between midnight and 8 am and between 8 pm and midnight, as is the case at Centro Materno Infantil do Norte, which is restricted between 8 am and 6 pm.
In total, seven emergency rooms are closed, five are subject to restrictions and 194 are open.
According to information from the SNS Portal, two Gynecology and Obstetrics emergency services are expected to close on Monday, namely at the Setúbal and São Francisco Xavier hospitals in Lisbon.
The Executive Board of the SNS appeals to the population to “always call” the SOS Pregnant Line (808 24 24 24) before going to a Gynecology emergency service.
