FOUR OR FIVE? Here is the position in which Petrushev feels better! – Euroleague

There has been a lot of discussion on this topic lately!

Filip Petrushev since returning Colombia he plays more and more often in the wing center position, while before that he was a classic center. In the conversation for Sports Club he found out which position suits him better:

“At the five, I can go wide and get out for a shot or a penetration, because I’m faster than most straight guards, but not only that – I can sometimes go short and to the rim, to receive the alley-up. I don’t think that such a variety in the top five is something that is common, although it depends on the direct rival – if you play with Tavares, normally you will get more shots. In general, I think at the five I have more flexibility on offense to see who I’m playing against and make different decisions from the pick and roll. What I don’t like most about five is that you have to be in non-stop contact.” – he said Filip Petrushev, and then added:

“And that’s part of the job, of course, but that’s why defensively it’s easier for me on the four. Especially in Europe, because the fours are not like in the NBA, here I can athletically send off most of the fours both outside and inside, and there’s not so much contact, it’s easier, less you get tired. On the attacking four, I think I have a big advantage inside because there are a lot of ‘undersized’ players, I am bigger than the average four and I can make an advantage there – sometimes they double you, sometimes I play one on one. Also, you don’t often play spades with a four, sometimes the defense gets confused, so I have more solutions, I usually roll with the four.” – he concluded.
