On Sunday afternoon in Daugavpils, in a five-story residential building on the street. A fire broke out in Pushkin, as a result of which four people were injured, several were rescued, the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) reported.
At 14.05, the State Fire and Rescue Service received a call to Pushkin Street, where a fire started in a five-story building – household items were burning on an area of 20 square meters on the second floor of the building, and heavy smoke formed. Two people were rescued from a burning apartment by firefighters wearing rescue masks, another person was rescued from the apartment by a neighbor. Firefighters rescued eight people from the upper apartments, four were evacuated, and two more evacuated on their own.
As a result of the fire, four people were injured, three of whom were in the burning apartment. They were transferred to the Emergency Medical Service.
Firefighters did not hear a smoke detector signal in the apartment, which would have warned about smoke in time.
