Foxconn ready for mass production in 2025

Foxconn, one of Apple’s main partners, he announced which will begin mass production of the displays microLED by the end of 2025. This represents a crucial step towards the adoption of next-generation display technology, destined to redefine the visual performance of technological devices.

Apple has not yet completed the final switch to screen OLEDbut it is already looking further towards microLED displays. Apple’s technological evolution path has seen the following stages:

Apple plans to introduce this technology to future devices, with a possible initial application at Apple Watchalthough plans have been postponed for the time being.

Foxconn announced a strategic collaboration with Porotecha leading company in technology gallium nitride (GaN)to accelerate the development and production of microLEDs intended primarily for augmented reality headsets. This partnership aims to create high-performance display solutions, with exceptional brightness, compact design and lightweight, perfect for AR devices.

Foxconn also revealed plans to build a microLED wafer production line Taichungwith mass production scheduled for fourth quarter of 2025. This suggests that the first devices equipped with this technology could debut on the market in first quarter of 2026.

Why is microLED important?

microLED technology brings significant advantages over OLED and mini-LED, including:
