France has decided to save, and government subsidies for the purchase of electric cars will also be cut. The subsidy budget for 2025 is one billion euros, compared to 1.5 billion in 2024.
But more than 300 million will be used to absorb the 2024 budget overrun. That’s why only 690 million will actually be available for subsidies next year. Enough to finance about 200,000 electric cars during the year, he says HAK magazine.
When the budget is spent, the government can decide to end subsidies. Unlike the first announcements, professionals will still be able to use bonuses to purchase battery-powered light commercial vehicles.
The amount of the environmental bonus is currently 4,000 euros for the richer half of taxpayers and 7,000 euros for households with more modest incomes. Now subsidies fall to 2,000, 3,000 or 4,000 euros (from 7,000 euros), depending on household income.
