Fraudsters profit from tragic accident in Gulbene region

Fraudsters are trying to profit from a tragic accident in which four teenagers died in the Lizums parish of the Gulbene region, Latvian media reports.

The criminals are asking to transfer money to foreign bank accounts that have no connection to the affected families. The police clarified that these requests are fraudulent.

In order to truly help the families of the victims, it is important to use only official and verified donation platforms or accounts belonging directly to the victims, the police emphasize.

Let us recall that last week in an accident in Lizumskaya parish Four teenagers died. According to preliminary data, the young driver of the Audi lost control and the car crashed into a tree. The accident killed the driver, born in 2007, and three passengers – girls born in 2006 and 2010, as well as a young man born in 2007. Another passenger, also born in 2007, was taken to hospital.

The driver was a minor and did not have a driver’s license. A criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident, and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
