Steam is overhauling its demos. Developers can now create their own page for the demos, where you can try out the game for free, and they will get a more prominent place on the gaming platform.
Trying out games for free is a great way to convince people to buy a game, but some demos are disappointing. That’s why Steam has now decided to make it possible for users to leave reviews about these demos. Previously, you could only leave a review about the entire game. Now, you can also leave a review about the demo specifically. Gamers can then indicate whether they think it’s too short a demo, or perhaps one with way too many bugs.
Demo’s op Steam
The advantage of demos is that they are free to play and Steam is therefore placing them under the free games. This gives them a more prominent place within the platform with the hope that more people will try the demo and be inspired to buy the game. You will also soon be able to put demos in your library in advance, where you can download them later. For the first time, you can now also play demos if you already own the full game.
When you delete a demo from your system, it will also disappear from your library, to keep it organized. Demos are often a certain number of hours or even a certain quest that you do, so you don’t spend an extreme amount of time on them and the demos can follow each other in rapid succession if you like to try new games. To keep your library quiet, you can delete the demos once you’ve played them.
More attention to demos
If a new demo becomes available, you will be notified, if you have set this up. Finally, demos can also appear among the ‘trending’ games, making them even more visible to people looking for something fun to play.
