Foreign. Greenland’s natural resources of oil, gas and rare earths should not require a US annexation of Greenland, according to an expert. Denmark is actually ready to give the USA access to the natural resources anyway.
– Greenland and Denmark have long tried to attract foreign investment to the island to extract and export this type of raw materials without success. Nobody would mind if Americans want to try, says Mimik Rosing, Danish-Greenlandic professor of geobiology at the University of Copenhagen, to SvD.
– It is difficult to understand what Trump’s interest is due to. You don’t need to own the island to mine the raw materials.
The earth metals in particular are of interest as they can be used in the development of, among other things, AI, for semiconductor production.
