Free incontinence diapers for those with economic needs in 2025

Starting next year, diapers, underwear and incontinence pads will be free for those with more than 60% economic insufficiency, upon presentation of a medical prescription.

According to information from the Ministry of Health, this measure could be extended to a larger number of people, a possibility that is “under study”.

“From January 1, 2025, the National Health Service (SNS) will make free diapers, underwear and incontinence pads available in all health centers in all municipalities in the country for people with 60% or more disability and economic insufficiency”, indicates the ministry, in a statement.

The measure is valid for all ages, as long as the requirements of 60% or more of disability and record of hyposufficiency at the health center are met, he specifies.

Currently, these people are forced to buy products at their market value and only later can they request a refund of part of the cost.

With this new measure, all they need to do is present their SUS medical prescription at any health center and receive the products they need free of charge.

This way, users are not only able to better manage their pensions or salaries, but also reduce the need to travel.
