The Milano Autoclassica show takes place between November 15-17, welcoming enthusiasts, experts and connoisseurs alike, all captivated by an ever-expanding sector that is gaining more and more interest from the public.
In its 14th edition, hosted by Fiera Milano, the event focuses on the successful fusion between the past, which preserves the historical heritage of the brands, and the present of contemporary models presented by car manufacturers who always look to the future.
Stellantis Heritage could not be absent from the prestigious event. In fact, Heritage is the department dedicated to the protection and promotion of the historical heritage of the Group’s Italian brands, confirming the indestructible link between the models that wrote history and the latest innovations. On this occasion, the public will have the opportunity to admire 5 masterpieces of the Alfa Romeo brand, which conquer a new generation of “Alfisti” with increasingly efficient, connected models with bold stylistic personality.
Specifically, the stand set up in Milan presents three vintage cars from the precious Stellantis Heritage collection – the Alfa Romeo 33 “Iguana”, the Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce and the Alfa Romeo 4C Superbike. These cars highlight both the company’s commitment to preserving and caring for its heritage, as well as the importance of maintenance, repair and restoration services provided directly by the skilled technicians of Officine Classiche in Turin.
The new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and the new Alfa Romeo Junior will also be present at the show. 33 Stradale represents a veritable “manifesto” of the Italian brand’s capabilities – now and in the future – in terms of style and driving experience, while the new Alfa Romeo Junior is the compact sports car that marks the brand’s return to the B segment with the most wide range of engines in its category.
Alfa Romeo 33 “Iguana”
Belonging to the Stellantis Heritage collection and on display at the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Arese, the fascinating Alfa Romeo 33 “Iguana” is a one-of-a-kind specimen presented at the Turin Motor Show in November 1969, a creation of world-renowned designer Giorgetto Giugiaro.
The “Iguana” concept car reinterprets a high-performance coupé based on the mechanical basis of the 33 Stradale, with an extremely sharp front end, broad and defined lines, an elegant and minimalist Alfa Romeo “scudetto”, a wide and highly angled windshield , an adjustable rear spoiler and a simple and linear interior design. The body has a distinctive metallic shade, very bright. Campagnolo alloy wheels with elliptical perforations – an obvious nod to the 33 Stradale, complete a design that, at the time, anticipated the style of the 1970s.
1750 Spider Veloce
Until the 1960s, Alfa Romeo’s Spider models were essentially convertible versions of hatchbacks or coupes, but at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show Alfa Romeo presented a Spider so original that it was considered completely separate from any other model in production at that time. In 1966, the “1600 Spider” was born, characterized by a lenticular shape, harmoniously exacerbated to the point of giving the car the shape of a cuttlebone, all contained in a rounded, enveloping shape. However, such shapes were not new to an Alfa Romeo Spider, great curiosity and interest had been sparked 14 years earlier by the presentation of the 1900 C 52 spider known as the ‘Disco Volante’. But the spotlight on the Spider (unofficially known as the “Duetto”) had only just begun to shine. From America, a young Dustin Hoffman arrived on the big screens in Italy at the wheel of a red Duetto, driven exuberantly on the set of the film “The Graduate”, to the tunes of the song “Mrs. Robinson” by Simon & Garfunkel. The success of the film and the car was so great that a special edition of the Spider was called “Graduate” in America, referencing the same name of the film. The successor to the “Duetto” model was the 1750 Spider Veloce, introduced in 1967: it retained all the characteristics of the “1600” model, except for the engine, which was enlarged to 1779 cubic centimeters, increasing power to 114 hp and having a top speed of 190 km/h The model presented at Milano AutoClassica is a perfect example of restoration in progress: Officine Alfa Romeo Classic Classiche of the Stellantis Heritage department carefully restores this fascinating car, faithfully preserving all the original features and requirements, to give the lucky owner not just a car, but a dream on four wheels.
Alfa Romeo 4C Superbike
In the spotlight is the Alfa Romeo 4C supercar, which, thanks to its extraordinary dynamic qualities, was chosen in 2014 as the Safety Car of the SBK Superbike World Championship.
After all, the Alfa Romeo 4C is an uncompromising automobile that feels best on the track, where speed, short braking distances and transverse acceleration are fundamental to achieving first-class lap times: from 0 to 100 km/ h in just 4.5 seconds flat, top speed of 258 km/h, deceleration peaks of the order of 1.2 g and lateral acceleration peaks of over 1.1 g. These outstanding results are achieved through an optimal weight distribution, an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio of less than 4 kg/CV and a curb weight of only 895 kg.
The remarkable performance is also achieved thanks to the combination of the 1750 Turbo Benzine 240 HP engine with the Alfa TCT dual dry clutch transmission and the advanced Alfa DNA selector with a unique Race mode. The model exhibited at Milano AutoClassica and regularly exhibited belongs to the Stellantis Heritage collection and boasts a Certificate of Authenticity, which includes in-depth technical expertise and meticulous documentary research, taking into account all the work done on the car. This exclusive service is offered only by Officine Classiche Alfa Romeo, ensuring top certification for collectors worldwide.
Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale
To turn a dream into reality requires, first of all, a good dose of courage and a dash of pure madness. The same ingredients that formed the basis of the appearance, in 1967, of the car considered by many to be one of the most beautiful of all time: the 33 Stradale. Today, with the same boldness and vision, the Alfa Romeo team designed and developed the new 33 Stradale model, a true work of art in motion, the result of the perfect fusion of beauty and technology. Produced in just 33 exclusive examples with a unique hand-crafting process, the new two-seater sports coupé combines the heritage and future of the brand, which symbolizes noble Italian sportiness. Its aim is to offer the most immersive driving experience and the timeless charm of an icon to an exclusive circle of enthusiasts, who have believed in the project since the beginning. The new 33 Stradale model was born in the newly established Alfa Romeo “Bottega”, where designers, engineers and historians of the brand first listened to potential buyers and then built it together, just as it was done in Renaissance craftsmen’s workshops or in the workshops of the famous Italian coachbuilders from the 1960s.
Alfa Romeo Junior
At the “Milano AutoClassica” show, the public can admire an example of the 136 HP Junior Hybrid model, which is distinguished by a refined blue body on which stand out the three-spoke alloy wheels and the new reinterpretation of the “Leggenda” emblem, which accentuates the iconic and sporty design of this authentically cool object, able to create an immediate emotional connection with the driver. The new version has a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) Hybrid 48V architecture of 136 HP. This model offers an extremely smooth ride and allows more than 50% electric travel in the city; it guarantees driving in electric mode not only during parking maneuvers or at low speeds in the city, but also on extra-urban routes, under low load conditions, at speeds of up to 150 km/h. The compact sports car marks the brand’s return to the B-segment with the most complete commercial offering in the segment: a 136 hp hybrid version, the only vehicle in the premium compact class that will soon debut in a Q4 variant with all-wheel drive and automatic axle management rear and a fully electric version with a 54 kWh battery available with two power levels (156 HP and the range-topping VELOCE with 240 HP). The latter is achieved through specific “made in Alfa Romeo” technical solutions developed by the same team that created the Giulia GTA. Comfort and practicality are at the top of the segment, as evidenced by the largest boot among premium competitors (400 litres) and the Alfa Romeo Cable Organizer solution.
