The weather is getting worse and winter is returning to our country again, after the high temperatures that occurred at midday on Friday (10/10) in most areas of the territory.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded yesterday in Avlida, where the mercury reached 21.2 °C. According to the network of automatic weather stations of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, the eight highest maximum temperatures of the day are presented in the table below:

According to weather forecasts, the weather scenario is changing for the next few days, with gusty northerly winds and a significant drop in temperature up to 10 degrees. It is also expected that rain and snow will occur mainly in mountainous areas, but also in lowland areas of Northern Greece.

The weather today Saturday 11-1-2025
Temporarily increased clouds are expected across the country. A few local rains will appear initially in the west, in the islands of the Eastern Aegean, in the Dodecanese and possibly in Thrace. In the afternoon, the weather will show a progressive change with rains in areas of Western, Central and mainly Northern Greece. A little snow will fall in the northern mountains. In the early morning visibility in many areas will be limited and fog will form.
The temperature will vary in Western Macedonia from -1 to 12 degrees, in Thrace from 3 to 8, in the rest of northern Greece from 2 to 14 degrees, in Thessaly from 3 to 16-18, in Epirus from 6 to 17 degrees, in the rest continental from 7 to 16-18, in the Ionian Islands from 9 to 16 degrees, in the Aegean islands from 9 to 17-18 degrees and in Crete from 9 to 20 degrees Celsius.
In the Central, Eastern and Southern Aegean, southwesterly winds will blow with intensities of up to 5 Beaufort, while in the Northern Aegean, northeasterly winds with the same intensities of 4-5 Beaufort will gradually prevail. Northwesterly winds will blow in the Ionian with intensities up to 4 Beaufort.
In Attica we expect temporarily increased clouds. Visibility will be limited in the early morning. Winds will blow from western directions with intensities of 2-4 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 10 to 17 degrees.
In Thessaloniki we expect a few clouds which will gradually increase and rain will occur in the evening. Visibility will be limited in the early morning. Winds will blow from various directions with intensities of 2-3 Beaufort. The temperature will range from 7 to 14 degrees.
The weather on Sunday 12-01-2025
Increased clouds with rain in almost the whole country. Sporadic storms will occur in the west and from the afternoon and on the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean. The phenomena will be strong in places initially in the northwest (North Ionian, Epirus) and gradually in the rest of the Ionian islands, eastern Thessaly, Sporades, northern Evia and the islands of the eastern Aegean. In western Macedonia, particularly heavy snowfall will occur in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas from the morning hours and from the midday hours and in areas with lower altitude. Snowfall from the morning hours will also occur in the highlands and semi-mountains of central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in the highlands of Epirus, Thessaly (especially in the west) and from the afternoon in the central highlands.
The winds will blow in the north north northeast 5 to 6 and from noon in the northern Aegean 7 to 8 while in the rest of the areas they will blow from southerly directions 4 to 6 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop in northern Greece by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius and 4 to 6 degrees in the central country. It will range in the north from minus (-4 four) to 11 degrees, in the central and southern mainland and the northeastern Aegean islands from 6 to 17 degrees and in the rest of the island country from 11 to 19 degrees and locally in the southernmost parts of the Dodecanese to 20 degrees Celsius.
The weather on Monday 13-01-2025
Increased clouds with rain across the country. Sporadic storms will occur in the Ionian, the central and southern mainland, the Sporades, Evia and temporarily in the northeastern Aegean and the Dodecanese. The effects will be strong in places in the Ionian Islands and the western Peloponnese.
In western Macedonia, particularly heavy snowfall will occur in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas and in areas with a lower altitude. Heavy snowfall will occur in the highlands and semi-mountains of central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in the highlands of Epirus, Thessaly (especially in the west) as well as in the central highlands.
Winds will blow in the west and south south southeast 5 to 7 Beaufort, while in the east north northeast 4 to 6 and in the north 7 to 8 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop further.
The weather on Tuesday 14-01-2025
Clouds with local rains and isolated storms in the southern maritime – coastal areas. The phenomena at noon in the north will cease. Snowfall will occur in the morning hours in the mountains of the eastern mainland and until noon in the northern semi-mountains.
The winds will blow east northeast 4 to 6 and on the seas locally 7 to 8 Beaufort.
The temperature in the center and the north will fluctuate at levels a little lower than normal, while in the rest of the country there will be no significant change. In the morning and evening there will be some frost in the north.
The weather on Wednesday 15-01-2025
In the west and Crete and in the evening in the Cyclades there will be local rains while in the Ionian Islands and the Peloponnese there will also be sporadic storms. In the rest of the clouds with a few local rains in the eastern mainland and Evia. Snowfall will occur in the morning hours in the mountains of the eastern mainland and in the northern semi-mountains. A gradual improvement is expected from the afternoon.
Winds will blow from northerly directions 4 to 6 and in the southern seas temporarily local 7 Beaufort with fast weakening.
The temperature will not change appreciably. In the morning and evening there will be some frost in the north.
