Grand Motors, the importer of Chery vehicles, organized a promotional drive of the latest model in the Chinese manufacturer’s range for domestic journalists. After the large SUV models, we are now getting a slightly smaller B-segment crossover, the Tiggo 4Pro, which pleasantly surprised us with its rich equipment and affordable price.
There is only one engine and one equipment package on offer, so customers will have no doubts about the choice of version. Although we expected the equipment to be more modest compared to other models in the range, Chery Tiggo 4Pro can even boast of luxurious details. For starters, the car unlocks and starts without contact. Just pulling the door handle reveals that a lot of attention has been paid to the high quality of the finish. However, what leaves the strongest impression are the large high-resolution displays with a diagonal of 10.25 inches, integrated in a common frame according to the latest fashion. In addition, the cabin is richly upholstered with soft surfaces, with a dashboard made of foam rubber and perforated eco-leather. Perforated seats with integrated headrests are also made of eco leather, which also contributes to the impression of luxury.
There are many more interesting items on the list of standard equipment, such as automatic lights and rain, automatic activation of high beams, electric parking brake, rear parking sensors, reversing camera, 18-inch alloy wheels, and even electrically adjustable driver’s seat. All of this is available for an unexpectedly affordable 18,490 euros, making the Chery Tiggo 4Pro not only among the cheapest, but also among the best-equipped crossovers in the B segment.
However, it is understandable that there are also average elements for that amount. For example, the headlights are halogen with projectors, which is not so bad when it comes to regular maintenance costs. The same applies to the engine. Under the hood is a naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a volume of 1498 cubic meters and four cylinders. Due to increasingly strict exhaust gas emissions, this type of engine is slowly disappearing. It’s a real shame because it requires minimal regular maintenance costs. In addition, traditional construction does not have complicated and sensitive components, so the possibility of malfunctions is reduced to a minimum. Its 95 horsepower and five-speed manual transmission are common for this type of engine. For those sitting in the Tiggo 4Pro from models with turbo engines it will seem sluggish, but the fact is that it is a nice upgrade for people who want to repeat themselves with a new car after years of driving a car such as, for example, the Fiat 500L. In terms of space and power, they are very similar, with the fact that here the equipment is much richer. True, the “climate” does not have an automatic function, but it is digital. You can also count on Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity, and that’s completely wireless!
Otherwise, security is at a high level. Automatic braking works with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists, and there is also a warning for leaving the lane and assistance when moving on hills with the auto-hold function. Six airbags are standard.
