Fully electronic passport to be launched by December 31: Home Affairs Advisor

Interior Advisor Lt. General (retd.) said that the electronic passport (e-passport) will be launched by December 31 of this year. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

The advisor informed the reporters after visiting Agargaon passport office on Monday morning.

The home adviser said that the government is trying to convert all passports into electronic passports, “The work of e-passport will be completed this year itself. I want to complete this work during my tenure.”

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the passport offices have been told to increase the quality of service, “It still takes a long time to get a passport. Said to speed up the work.”

However, he also clarified the government’s position that the Rohingyas should not have the opportunity to use Bangladeshi passports in any way.

When asked whether police verification will be omitted in the case of passports, he said, “A decision will be taken in this regard by talking to everyone. What will be the benefit or the problem will be taken after considering everything.”

Apart from this, the Home Affairs Advisor also warned that those who are staying in Bangladesh without a visa, if they do not collect visas by January 31, legal action will be taken.
