Future members of Donald Trump’s government targeted by false bomb threats

INTERNATIONAL – Several members of Donald Trump’s cabinet and administration have been targeted in recent hours by « menaces » declared this Wednesday, November 27 Karoline Leavitt, the spokesperson for the president-elect. She mentions “ attacks » going “ bomb threats » au « swatting », practice which consists of provoking police raids on victims, without giving further details.

“Last night and this morning, several people appointed by President Trump to join his team were victims of violent and anti-American threats”said Karoline Leavitt in a press release. “We take all potential threats seriously,” she clarified.

“A pipe bomb threat targeting my family and I at our home was sent today with a pro-Palestinian themed message”for example, declared on X Lee Zeldin, chosen by Trump to head the Environmental Protection Agency. “My family and I were not home at the time and are safe. We are working with law enforcement to find out more »he clarified.

Elise Stefanik, nominated by Donald Trump to be American ambassador to the UN, also said in a press release to have been “ notified of a bomb threat at (her) family home”. The elected official, her husband and their 3-year-old son were driving from Washington to Saratoga County in New York State when they were informed of the threat.

The federal police, the FBI, confirmed that they had “ knowledge of numerous bomb threats and acts of swatting targeting people expected to join the next administration”. “We take all potential threats seriously and, as always, encourage the public to immediately report anything they believe is suspicious to law enforcement.”said a spokesperson.

These statements come at a time when the presidential campaign was one of the most tense in the modern history of the United States, with Donald Trump having notably been the victim of two assassination attempts.
